Shri G. F. AJGAONKAR, popularly known as "GUMFA (गुंफ)", was renowned “Historian
and Author”. He was a versatile man with numerous talents. He made outstanding contributions
to the society in wide variety of domains. A Historian par excellence, Connoisseur of
Literature, Visionary Writer, Emotional Poet, Fine Teacher, Fearless Journalist,
Experimental Publisher, Smart Editor and Student of Law; “GUMFA (गुंफ)” left a legacy in
each of the fields he touched. A humble man of many words, he earned respect and love of the
society through his unbiased writing.As a writer or publisher, his was creator of Religious
Literature on “Shree Dev
Vatoba”, “Shree Dev Narayan”, “Shree Swami Samarth”, “Shree Raghvendra Swami”, “Dattagiri
Gosavi”, “Chaitanya Swami”, “Shree Sadguru Sahajanand Saraswati”, “Hey Bhagwan”, “Soham
Dhyan Tarang”, “Ovi Namamrut Saar”, “Shree Chaitanya Swami” etc.

many in their spiritual journeys. Through his literary work, he was able to highlight
outstanding contributions of luminaries like “Swarabhushan Vasant Desai”, “Gunavant
Dabholkar”, “Dr. Pandharinath Prabhu”, “V. R. Dhavle”, “G. L. Samant” (Tabla Maestro),
“Natverya Madhavrao Walavalkar”, “Capt. M.K. Shinde alias Milind Madhav”, “INA Chief
Senapati Bhosale” “Anant Shivaji”, “Guruvarya G.M. Divekar”, “Natvarya Parshuram Samant”,
“Anand Yatri M.B. Mainkar”, “D.G.Tendulkar”, etc. to the society.His natural pursuit of
historical research leads him to write books like,
“Ajgaon Darshan” and “Walawal Darshan” which created a visual representation of these
regions in his readers' mind. He was able to present the history of “Kudaldeshkar Gaud
Brahmins” to the world.He talked about, wrote about and loved the enriching history till
his last breath. Understanding his unfinished wish, his wife Mrs. Vinaya Ajgaonkar, a
retired school principal, carried his research forward to author a famous novel
"Kudaldeshkar Samagra Itihas".

As a Poet he wrote many poems which were published in many newspapers. These were later
compiled and published as “Kranti Parag” He also published “Jai Maharashtra” award winning
“Powada” by Shahir Pohanerkar.
He also ventured in journalism and wrote variety of columns in almost all daily Marathi
Newspapers published from Mumbai for two decades.
His passionate contribution to Literature in its different forms, his natural pursuit of
historical research, his business acumen and above all his all-pervading compassion that
encompassed a very wide horizon of his persona made him famous in every field he ventured.
